Warmly welcome to the workshop Choreographing Joy 13th of May. 9:00-12:00. Sign up: info@konsthallc.se
Experience the power of dance in an in-person movement workshop with choreographer Vânia Gala. Introduced by artist Harold Offeh, the workshop will reflect on the scores or instructions for movements developed by Gala and performed by Offeh and other performers in the installation ‘Joy Inside Our Tears’ exhibited as part of Bodies in motion - dance and resistance.
Harold Offeh's video installation Joy Inside Our Tears is part of the ongoing exhibition Bodies in motion: Dance and resistance. Harold’s installation examines the relationship between trauma, social dance and collective joy. Collective dance does not, however, always necessarily signal joy but can also be a sign of stress, driven by societal anxiety, anger or sadness associated with a time characterised by fear. The work was created during the pandemic when social distancing and a ban on collective dance was widespread.
For the workshop no previous experience is required and you’ll be invited to move in whatever way is comfortable for you. Please bring comfortable clothes. We’ll conclude with a free lunch. Limited number of participants please sign up.
