BIOGRAFIA
Vânia Gala é angolano-portuguesa.
Completa a sua licenciatura em dança em 1999 na E.D.D.C. (European Dance Development Center) - Arnhem.
Colabora como intérprete com os Les ballets C. de La B. - Koen Augustijnen e Christine De Smedt, Constanza Macras, Nationale Scene - Bergen, Morten Traavik, Kompani B.Valiente, entre outros.
Automatic Id (AID) o último trabalho da sua autoria foi apresentado desde a sua estreia em Portugal, Noruega, Alemanha e Irlanda.
Já em 2005 a autora foi premiada com "Best Female Performance Award" com a coreografia Automatic Id (AID) no Dublin Fringe Festival. O mesmo trabalho participou na Plataforma Aerowaves em Londres.

Automatic Id (AID) has been performed since its premiére in Portugal, Norway, Germany and Ireland.
In 2005 Automatic Id (AID) was awarded with “Best Female Performance” at the Dublin Fringe Festival and was part of the Aerowaves Festival 2005 at The Place in London..

Ein Treffpunkt für zeitgenössischen Tanz in Hamburg

Hamburg tanzt!
Die 2.Edition des DanceKiosk-Hamburg lädt nationale und internationale Künstler und Gastlehrer ein, die für neue, inspirierende Tendenzen im zeitgenössischen Tanz stehen.

Workshops, Trainings und Vorträge nationaler und internationaler Gastlehrer und Künstler geben den Teilnehmern Einblicke in zeitgenössischen Tanz, Komposition, Recherche, in die Praxis der Bühnentechnik, in Licht- und Sounddesign sowie in Dramaturgie. Die Veranstaltungen richten sich an angehende Choreographen, Dramaturgen, Regisseure, junge Tänzer, Schauspieler und Laien.

Kiosk.ShotCuts präsentieren an jedem Samstag im Juli 2006 ausgewählte Solo-Performances nationaler und internationaler Künstler im Theater Hamburger Sprechwerk. Für die 2. Edition des DanceKiosk konnten Jochen Roller (Deutschland), Antje Pfundtner (Deutschland), Sara Gebran (Venezuela/Dänemark), Cristina Moura (Brasilien), Vânia Gala (Angola/Portugal), Dorothea Ratzel (Deutschland), Eva Karczag (USA), Ricardo de Paula (Brasilien), Andreas Müller (Deutschland) und Felix Marchand (Deutschland).

DanceKiosk-Hamburg wird unterstützt von der Kulturbehörde der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg. In Kooperation mit: Schauspiel-Studio Frese, Tanzinitiative Hamburg E.V., Tanzfabrik Hamburg, Theaterakademie Hamburg, Künstlerhaus Vorwerkstift, Kampnagel Hamburg und Hamburger Sprechwerk. Das Festival Kiosk.ShotCuts wird ermöglicht durch das NATIONALE PERFORMANCE NETZ aus Mitteln des Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien sowie der Kultur- und Kunstministerien der Länder.

Hamburg in Motion!
The 2nd edition of DanceKiosk-Hamburg invite national and international artists and guest teachers that represent a new and inspiring Contemporary Dance Scene. DanceKiosk-Hamburg 2006 includes daily training, workshops and seminars for dancers, movers, actors, choreographers, and the comunity. Teaching languages in English and German.

The festival Kiosk.ShotCuts will present this year on each Saturday of July the newest solo-performances from national and international artists at the Theatre Hamburger Sprechwerk: Jochen Roller (Germany), Antje Pfundtner (Germany), Sara Gebran (Venezuela), Cristina Moura (Bresil), Vânia Gala (Angola/Portugal), Dorothea Ratzel (Germany), Eva Karzag (USA), Ricardo de Paula (Bresil), Andreas Müller (Germany) and Felix Marchand (Germany). Vania Gala

Vânia Gala is a choreographer and researcher based in London. She holds a BA in Dance from EDDC (European Dance Development Center, Arnhem) and Master of Arts in Choreography with Distinction (Trinity Laban). She is a PhD candidate at Kingston University and a PASS studentship awardee. Gala’s research, choreographies and "conversational performances" explore the critical potential of opacity and withdrawal in choreography in the present time. Latest performative interventions include the give&take series at Tate Modern and Mesa para Práticas de Cabeça para Baixo ou de Pernas para o Ar at Museum of Modern Art Calouste Gulbenkian (2019). Collaborations as performer have involved Les Ballets C. de La B., Constanza Macras and Sonia Boyce. She has collaborated as a choreographer with visual artists Sonia Boyce, Harold Hoffeh and Griot theatre company.. Commissions include “Cooling Down Signs” a Pan- European commission by Beyond Front@ performed at Dance Week Festival (HR), D.I.D (AT), Front@ Festival (SI), Bakelit (HU). In 2019 she was awarded Best Choreography Award by Theatre Guide Awards (Portugal) for her collaboration with GRIOT. Her choreographic work has been performed in Angola, Portugal, Norway, Germany, Ireland, UK, Russian Federation and Austria. In 2005 she was awarded with “Best Female Performance” at the Dublin Fringe Festival, was part of Aerowaves Festival at the Place, London and of the 1st Triennial of Luanda (Angola). In 2007 she performed at the 1st African Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Vânia Gala has supervised MA and MFA dissertations (practice-based, practice-as-research and fully written) and has taught practice released based technique, Composition Modules and Choreography. Prior to Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance she taught undergraduate modules at Northampton and Kingston Universities.
